Lorenzens Named Top Red Angus Breeder

Larry and Liz Lorenzen of Lorenzen Ranches, Inc., recently received the Red Angus Breeder of the Year award from the Red Angus Association of America.

Over the last decade, Lorenzen Ranches has increased their sale offering from 100 bulls to over 300 bulls a year that they market through their annual February bull sale and private treaty offerings. They are one of the largest suppliers of Red Angus genetics.

In addition to supplying seedstock to their customers, they have set up marketing opportunities as well. Lorenzen Ranches worked in alliance with BNW to develop a proprietary fed-cattle pricing grid which provides quality and yield premiums as well as age-and source-verification incentives.

This outlet for their commercial customers' cattle added value to their product and earned a number of GridMaster awards for loads marketed on the grid.

Lorenzen Ranches marks its 50th year in the Red Angus breed in 2009. Along with Larry and Liz, the ranch operation includes their children Amy and Sam, and Larry's mother, Ila Lorenzen.
